Shared bikes are a great way to get around town quickly, healthily and environmentally. But don’t forget that, just like on your bike, you need to know the rules of the road. Take a look at our riding ten for safe riding.
ALWAYS CHECK THE TECHNICAL CONDITION OF THE BIKE
We check and service bikes carefully and regularly, but it may happen that a bike has been damaged just before you rent it.
Check the bike’s roadworthiness, such as the functionality of the brakes, before each loan to be sure.
USE THE CYCLE PATHS
Use designated cycle paths or designated roads.
Bicycles do not belong on the pavement under any circumstances.
DO NOT DRIVE UNDER THE INFLUENCE
Alcohol and other intoxicants do not belong behind the wheel or on the steering wheel.
These substances cause reduced reaction time, decision-making ability and impair stability.
OBEY TRAFFIC SIGNS
Follow the rules of the road.
Do not drive in the opposite direction.
Yield the right of way.
DO NOT DRIVE IN CROSSWALKS
Always dismount your bicycle at a crosswalk and lead it alongside you.
Always drive in such a way that you do not endanger yourself or passers-by.
RETURN YOUR BIKES TO THE OFFICIAL NEXTBIKE RACKS
Always use official nextbike stations for successful returns.
Returns outside of designated racks or areas are subject to a service fee.
Be sure to flatten your bike so that it doesn’t get in the way and spoil the culture of your beautiful city.
ALWAYS REMEMBER TO LOCK THE BIKE (BY PRESSING THE LEVER DOWN AND CHECKING IN THE APP)
Squeezing the lever above the rear wheel will lock the bike and automatically end the rental.
Always check that the bike is locked correctly, you can check the end of the rental in the customer app to check.

Tariffs and prices
How much does a pin fare cost?
The price of the fare depends on the tariff of the city. For more information, see our price list.
What about cities where the first 15 minutes are free?
You get 15 minutes free for each ride. The free minutes are only valid for the rental of one bike. There must be a break of at least 10 minutes between each rental.
Does the credit expire?
Ride credit does not expire and can be used in all countries where nextbike operates.
What are the monthly and annual subscriptions?
The subscription includes 30 free minutes for each ride. If there are already 15 free minutes in your city, the minutes are added together (e.g. 45 minutes total). There must be a break of at least 10 minutes between each rental.
The subscription is automatically renewed.
How do I cancel my subscription?
You can cancel your subscription directly in the app under My tariffs and benefits, on the nextbike website in your customer account or by contacting customer service at email@example.com.
I have a Multisport card. How can I use it?
With your Multisport card you can use nextbike 2 x 60 minutes per day absolutely free. Just pair your Multisport card with your nextbike account in the Subscriptions/Partner Benefits section and you’re ready to go.
The total discount also applies to the competing Rekola service. The number of free rentals is limited to 2×60 free minutes per day on both services combined.
I have a PID Ticket. How can I use it?
If you have an active PID Lítačka voucher, you can use nextbike in Prague for 2 x 15 minutes per day absolutely free. Just pair your Lítačka with your nextbike account in the Subscriptions/Partner Benefits section and you’re good to go.
The total discount also applies to the competing service Rekola. The number of free rentals is limited to 2×15 free minutes per day on both services combined.
I have a 365-day ODIS pass. How can I use it?
Anyone who has a currently valid annual (365-day) coupon for ODIS fare zone 1 or 2 on an ODISka or ZETKA transport card, on a payment card (physical payment card) or in the mobile app will get +15 free minutes in Ostrava. Enter the 10-digit number of your card for successful connection to the ODIS system.
Your name in your nextbike profile and must match the name of the annual (365-day) coupon holder.
I have an Edenred card. How can I use it?
You can also pay for nextbike rides using your Edenred card. Just verify your account with your Edenred card when you register and you’re good to go. If you already have an account with us and want to start riding on Edenred credit, in the Account Settings/Payment section, remove your existing payment method and replace it with your Edenred card details.
How it works
It’s my first time here. How can I get started quickly?
If you have a smartphone, download the nextbike app. Sign up, add your first name, last name, email and choose your payment method – credit card in your account settings.
The card is verified with a payment of 50 CZK, which is automatically transferred to the entry ride credit and the account is active. When you come to the bike, scan its QR code and the lock will open.
Can I rent a bike without a smartphone?
Yes, if you don’t have a smartphone, register on our website and follow the same activation process as for the mobile app. Once you are at the bike you want to rent, you will call our customer service line from the phone number you are registered with. You give us the bike number and it will open remotely. You end the loan by returning it to any official station by locking the lock over the rear wheel.
How do I know the official station in the app?
There is a map in the app with the stations marked where you can rent or return the bike. Click on the blue icon on the map to see the name of the station and its number.
Smaller white icons indicate bikes parked outside the official stations. These bikes can be rented but cannot be returned at these locations.
How do I know the official station in the city?
Use the location of the station on the map in the app as a guide. Physically, stations are most often city or commercial bike racks or designated or marked locations on the road. At these locations, just put your nextbike on the stand and lock the lock. But beware, not every bike stand is a nextbike station. So always make sure in the app that you return the bike at the station location.
How do I end a rental?
To end the loan, just manually pull down the blue lock lever above the rear wheel. After a beep, the rental will end. You don’t need to select anything in the app, but always check the end of the loan in the My Loans section.
What happens if I don’t return the bike to the official station?
Returning the bike outside the official station is subject to a service fee.
What is a “flex zone”?
A flex zone is an extended area where bikes can be returned to serve as an extended official station. Flex zones are only found in certain cities and are marked with a blue highlight on the map in the app.
I created a nextbike account in the Czech Republic. Can I use nextbike abroad?
Yes, you can use nextbike in all countries where it operates. Just be aware of the different rates.
Can I rent a bike standing outside the station?
Yes, you can rent a bike standing outside the official station. Rental is subject to the normal price list and you must return the bike to the official station. The only penalty is for returning the bike outside the station.
Where and when can I rent a bike?
The bikes are available 24/7 and you can check their current availability on the map in the app. In many cities we ride all year round.
I need to get away from my bike, but I don’t want someone to take it away from me. How to do it?
For active rentals, select “Park” in the app, confirm and manually lock the lock. In parking mode, you can also leave your bike outside the station, but beware, the rental is still running. When you come back to your bike, you deactivate the parking mode by instructing “Open lock”. The lock will open and you can continue riding.
How many bikes can I rent per nextbike account?
You can rent up to 4 bikes per account. Special promotions and free minutes only apply to the first bike rented.
How do I check in the app that the bike is returned correctly?
Check the correct locking of the bike and therefore the end of the loan in the My Loans section. If the loan is correctly completed, the ride history will be displayed and in this case the bike is correctly locked.
Can I ride my nextbike on the pavement?
No, bicycles belong on the road or marked trails.
I have a problem / Bicycle parameters
I rented a bike, but the lock didn’t open.
If the lock doesn’t open, it’s usually because it’s in the same position as the rear wheel spokes, which prevents it from unlocking. In this case, just turn the rear wheel a few millimetres and instruct the app to open the lock again.
In winter months and sub-zero temperatures, the lock can be blocked by frost. In this case, try helping the lock up manually.
I accidentally unlocked a bike I’m not at. What now?
If you unlock a bike you are not at, please inform us immediately. You can submit feedback in the app for that particular loaner, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call the customer service line, which is available weekdays 9am-5pm. We can also resolve the situation retrospectively.
I am unable to return my bike. What should I do?
If you can’t get the lock all the way down and the bike is still rented, turn the rear wheel a few millimeters and repeat the action, or try instructing the app to open the lock again and try locking the bike again. If this still does not lock the bike correctly, please contact us immediately. Please call us during our customer service hours (weekdays 9:00-17:00 (+420 581 652 047)) so we can help you. Outside of our customer service hours, it is easiest to leave feedback directly in the app in the “Need help?” section.
How do I report a problem with my rental or a defect on my bike?

Does the bike have safety features?
Yes. The bikes do not lack a front and rear light. In addition, they have reflective elements around the perimeter of the tyres.
Where do I turn on the lights on my bike?
The lights turn on and off automatically. The lights go off about one minute after the bike is returned.
What is the load capacity of the bike?
The load capacity of the bike is 150 kg. The load capacity of the basket is 5 kg.
How far can I travel on a full battery?
You can travel up to 50 km on a fully charged battery. However, range is affected by several factors and we cannot guarantee the distance.
How do I know if the e-bike is charged?
We currently have two types of e-bikes. For the electric bikes in the Beroun region, which can be found in the charging terminals, the LEDs on the frame of the bike indicate the charge. In the case of e-bikes in Kladno, Mladá Boleslav and Zlín, where there are no charging terminals, you can see the state of charge directly in the app when you click on the bike.
