🎈For 5 years now, in the Czech Republic, we have only needed this little to rent a bike and head off to new adventures.
What were the beginnings of nextbike? A bit of a wilderness 🤠
Czech nextbike was founded in 2018 by Lukáš Luňák and Tomáš Karpov, best friends and hockey teammates. Lukáš grew up in a family of bicycle manufacturers and Tomáš travelled the world and experienced the lifestyle of different countries, so the topic of bikesharing soon came up. And what was particularly on both their minds? Why bikes are exported from Hořice in the Podkrkonoší region to 25 European countries and none of them are sold in our country.
And so the boys stepped into it. In 2018, they bought the nextbike license and started to go around the first town halls with arguments to support shared mobility.🚴🚴
The first opening broke out in 2019 in Prostějov. That year, Havířov and Ostrava successfully joined in. You can see the festive dinner before the Ostrava opening at Lukáš’s grandmother’s house in the photo above.😁
Gradually other Czech cities joined the vision of sustainable cities and gradually added a third friend Dan Rambousek to their party and together they gradually conquered the position of the most widespread bikesharing in the Czech Republic, where they are now 🥳
